Who we are

The Gaming Project at Virginia Tech involves various aspects of design and development of computer and video games.  The club is for anyone with general interest in game design, and members can learn about programming and computer art in the creation of a game.  We currently have several groups that each work on their own game project, as well as some that work individually.  Members can choose whatever work interests them most, and the club provides a forum to share work and ideas.  Whether you want to learn more about the process developing games, game programming, computer art, or are just interested in games, the Gaming Project at Virginia Tech has many opportunities for you.  We also hold demonstrations of specific topics like 3D graphics in games, physics, creating 3D models, music, and programming.  We continue to look for new members that can join us for discussions on games and help us think of new ideas and possibilities for the club.

        Game Development

Each week we meet to collaborate on our game projects. Many members do software development to create their games with tools like XNA or HGE game engine. However, the club has room for anyone interested in games, game design, and art.

        Graphics/Art

We work on various graphics for our games, including 3D modeling and 2D animation.

        Game Discussion

Each meeting we also brainstorm new ideas for games.

        Game Tournaments

We also organize game nights and tournaments that are a blast.

        Useful Resources

The club provides several useful resources, including help from the Google group, use of code versioning, and a forum for ideas and game development.

        Fun Activities

We have other fun activities, including demos to other students, free food and drinks, and game competition submissions.
